Dr Nèvine te West
I have enjoyed working at St George Hospital since 2014 and I am very excited to have the opportunity to extend my practice to the Northern Beaches allowing my patients to be treated more locally.
I completed my medical studies at Erasmus University of Rotterdam in the Netherlands in 2004 and have worked in obstetrics and gynaecology from this time on. I am a Gynaecologist with extensive international training in Australia, the UK and the Netherlands before establishing my practice here in Sydney. I was fortunate enough to be one of six gynaecology trainees selected to train in a European training programme consisting of rotations in both the UK and the Netherlands, before completing my final years of training at St George Hospital. After returning to the Netherlands, I obtained my accreditation as a subspecialist in urogynaecology, a certification I continue to maintain.
This additional qualification has given me extensive experience in pelvic floor medicine and reconstructive surgery and allows me to offer a wide range of investigations and treatment options of pelvic floor disorders, including urinary incontinence, prolapse and childbirth injuries.
I have a special interest in the application of minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery. I am extremely passionate about providing the best possible outcomes for my patients, which I believe these techniques can achieve.
Furthermore, I realise the importance of the future of my field of medicine and as a conjoint lecturer at UNSW I am committed to teaching medical students, junior doctors and urogynaecology trainees, as well as conducting research. I am currently completing a PhD on oestrogen and the pelvic floor.
My Support Team
Secretarial Staff
When making an appointment to see me, you will speak with one of my secretaries; Nicole or Sylvia at St George Hospital or Debbie at the Northern Beaches Hospital, depending on which location you would prefer to be seen at. They are a lovely team who will support you in any way they can to make your experience within the practice as smooth as possible.
Nursing Staff
I have a specialised nurse who assists me in performing urodynamic testing. She may also take your history at your first visit and is experienced at fitting vaginal ring pessaries for the management of vaginal prolapse and/or incontinence.
Anaesthetics
If your condition requires surgery and you are admitted to St George Private Hospital, Dr Simon Harper from Prime Anaesthetics will in most of my cases perform your anaesthetic care.
I work with an equally experienced team of anaesthetists at the Northern Beaches Hospital.
Physiotherapy
I also have a close working relationship with a number of highly specialised pelvic floor physiotherapists to ensure that your treatment plan is tailored specifically to you and your condition.
